Tandem SkydiveA tandem skydive is the easiest way to experience the thrill of freefall on your very first jump! Tandem skydiving has safely been used for several decades. You jump from an altitude of 12,500 feet, while fully attached to an experienced tandem instructor to live a minute of freefall, followed by a gentle parachute ride back down to earth that lasts 5 minutes. Whether you only make one jump, or many, you will always remember your first jump. First-timers are our specialty: in 2009, we jumped with over 700 new students. We can also offer video of you in freefall. Capture the essence of the moment for ever! After a pre-jump video interview, a second skydiver will ride with you to altitude, and follow you out in freefall to capture every second of your experience. Some people just want a one-time adrenaline rush, and other want to learn how to become a skydiver. For those that want to become skydivers – they can then enrol in our Solo Certification Program. While in freefall, you will appreciate the wonderful landscape of the Ottawa-Outaouais region. Your tandem instructor takes care of everything, including steering the canopy down to the Parachute Centre. If you feel like it, you can even help him drive! How to dressSkydiving is an outdoor sport. Wear relaxed, comfortable clothing appropriate for the weather with either running shoes or light hiking boots. On the dayCheck in at the office and we will help you fill out the necessary paperwork. While you are there make sure to drink plenty of water and eat normally. Bring your friends and family out to enjoy the day with you. PreparationA tandem jump requires a short ground training session of approximately twenty minutes. During this session, your tandem instructor will explain how the equipment functions and will make you practice your exit from the aircraft. 15 Minutes PriorOur staff will outfit you with the equipment needed to make your skydive. You will then meet your tandem instructor and your cameraman (if you chose to have a video or pictures). You will then board the airplane, takeoff and climb to 12,500ft (weather permitting). Climbing To AltitudeOn the way to exit altitude your instructor will show you the area and sights visible from the air. He will review the jump with you and answer any questions you may have. During your 20 minute climb in the airplane you will overlook the beautiful Ottawa Gatineau scenery including the cities of Ottawa and Gatineau, the Ottawa River, and the Gatineau hills. On a clear day – you can see all the way to the St. Lawrence River. After being securely attached to you Tandem Instructor, the door will open and your adventure begins! The SkydiveYou, your instructor and the cameraman will get ready, and then out the door! The freefall portion of your skydive is an exhilarating minute of freefall at speeds up to 200 km/h. At the appropriate altitude your instructor will open the parachute. The Parachute RideYou may think freefall is over – but the adventure continues. The parachute ride is described as overwhelmingly peaceful and quiet. The slow ride back down to earth under canopy takes approximately 5 minutes. This allows plenty of time to take in the sights of the capital area from the air. After the SkydiveAfter the jump, we will assist you out of the gear and your adventure is complete!
